Stewardship

"As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord."
-U.S. Catholic Bishops Statement from "Stewardship: A Disciples Response"

The philosophy of Stewardship

Time

Use our time to honor God.  Consider setting aside a portion of our days to strengthen our relationship with God through prayer, Mass, scripture reading and service to others.

Talent

Assess our strengths and determine how we can build the kingdom of God. All of us have a gift and can share that gift to help others.

Treasure

Tithing, giving the first 10% of what we receive is the biblical guideline of how to give to God.  Good stewards reflect upon their current level of giving, and consider increasing their giving, if possible. Giving might be more or less depending upon what a person or family has concluded through prayer and reflection.  The U.S. Conference of Bishops have given us the following guidelines for giving:

5% of income to parish
1% of income to Archdiocese
4% of income to other charities
