This is a great place for students and teachers to have a quiet place to pray and enjoy the outdoors. Teachers are welcome to use this area for outdoor education as well.
Much of our landscaping and statuary on the property is done by our 8th grade classes as a yearly service project.
Our playground area and play set were installed in early 2005. This was purchased by our Home and School group through our yearly fundraising efforts and the children love it!
The Verdun Bell Tower is a popular landmark on our campus. It creates such a wonderful sound when the bells are ringing.
In 2008 the baseball/softball field and concession stand was built by our Men’s Club for St. Bernadette and Gross Catholic teams with playground equipment nearby. Stadium lights were added in the fall of 2010. The field can be covered with a tarp when needed and features a special topping which absorbs up to six inches of rain per 24-hour period. Games can then be played the very next day. Construction on a three-level concession stand and VIP seating is scheduled for the spring of 2012.
The parish office is located just south of our school building. There you will find our pastor, business manager, religious education director and the parish secretary as well as a chapel where we offer daily mass at 6:30 am Monday-Friday. We also have a beautiful RCIA / Bible study room located in this building for those who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith.
Slightly behind our parish office is the rectory. The Pastors and Bishops are welcome to reside here if they wish.
St. Bernadette students are able to exercise and learn about ways to be healthy and active with a certified P.E. teacher, great equipment, and use of the Gross High School track.
The church is the heart of our building. We have the school and church within the same building. This provides a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to visit throughout the school day!
